Madhya Pradesh Forest - Diamond mine could lead huge forest degradation or gain in GDP.

 The Mining Project:-

The mining of diamonds is being proposed to carry out in the forest of Buxwaha, Madhya Pradesh. The company associated to inaugurate this operation is Aditya Birla's Essel Mining & Industries Limited, and it is said to be completed before the financial year 2022. The project is said to develop across 364 hectares of forest land and it is estimated to bring around 34 million carats of rough diamonds. For this, over 2,00,000 trees have to be obliterated from the Buxwaha forest region.

The Problems It Can Cause:-

The problem or the issue these new projects of diamond mining can create are water shortages, displacement of adaptive species, and of course deforestation. Well, according to me the water shortage would be called the crisis in the near future as the region of Buxwaha is already underwater scarcity and the tribes living there are suffering lately. As mining requires an extravagant amount of water, it will just aggravate the water shortage problem. As per the latest reports it is estimated that around 7-8 different species could get displaced by this project alone. This mining project can actually lead to a lion's share of India's Pollution index.

Are There Any Advantages? :-

The answer is yes but of course, they are a few and won't be enough to compensate for the environmental degradation it is going to cause. So initially, it will create an employment opportunity for the tribals living there plus the locals too. There is going to be a significant rise in the standard of living of that area. Now because it is considered to be Asia's largest diamond mine huge investments and company evolution can happen. This could lead us to greater GDP growth and later in the aftermath the land could be used for operations too.

So here it is now you have the idea of what is happening and is going to happen, so it depends on you guys on which side are you on.
